His sister’s letter

In February of 2018, Joe visited his family in Michigan and ended up getting into a fight with his sister. He chased his sister down the streets of Ann Arbor. She described this to me as “SCARY”. I have always felt horrible about not sticking up for her in this moment. I know what it’s like to be chased and verbally attacked by Joe and it is terrifying. I did not stick up for her because I was scared to; I had to live with this guy.

I saved this letter because the words she used really did describe in some ways how I felt too.

She said “ He ‘clobbered’ me this time around with insults and more insults about WHO I AM as a person”.

“…Joe came in swinging (metaphorically) so self-defense became an immediate priority.”

“At least you all know publicly just SOME of the extreme words Joe uses with me.”

“He seems to FEED off insulting me.”

Some of these sentences I could have written myself.
